Captured? Gagged? Where is your proof of all this because right now you are using the wrong terms and changing the whole picture. While I don't agree with FGC you are making this out to be something you find listed with murder when in fact this is the peoples culture. This isn't a reliable site just your ideas and I hope no one decides what to believe in based on your ideas. Maybe you should go and read some scholarly journals (Anthropology one) Such as "Female Genital Cutting:Culture and Controversy by Ellen Gruenbaum" who is someone who actually knows what they are talking about. You on the other hand do not.

Second, in the hope not to ruffle your cultural sensitivities too much, here is a little excerpt from a story by a woman who has experienced it (at the guardianweekly.co.uk):
"[...] they tied my hands and blindfolded my eyes. Then they laid me in the backyard with big banana leaves spread out on the ground. They took off my pants. I was fighting, but the woman sat on my chest. I wanted to die at that moment but I couldn't scream – they put a cloth in my mouth. It felt like I was suffocating. To me that's a brutal assault. If even one convicted killer or rapist in the West would be tortured similarly as part of his punishment, both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch would be screaming bloody murder all over the world in defence of him. Yet two million girls experience this each year in one degree or another. I do understand that this is a complicated cultural issue, but that does not make the practice any less atrocious. It only makes it that much harder to eradicate.

SOMEONE!! come out and identify yourself. If you have ANY evidence
that Labi's story is wrong I'd love to see it, it would have to be
pretty good evidence though to rebuke the mountains of evidence I've
seen for about twenty years.
