Thank you for making this site. I have been constantly disheartened
by the unwillingness of books on vaginal health and educational
materials to acknowledge the great variety of labia, including that
large labia are just as normal as small ones!
The sad
truth is that I was taught that "normal" labia minora should not
protrude past the labia majora--in a book that was supposed to help
teens get more self-esteem no less! And later in life, I read a book
on vaginal health that only addressed long labia minora to say there
was a surgery to reduce them. Not to mention that Cosmo and other
women's magazines have written about labioplasty as if it is the best
new break-through surgery. How disgusting!
Obviously there
are some conditions, such as fused labia that prevent penetration,
that can be helped by surgery. But surgery just because the labia are
long? It's despicable.
We should be teaching young women and
girls that no matter what their labia look like they are beautiful!
I still cannot say that I'm fully comfortable with my
labia, even after seeing this site, but it is a step in the right
direction, and I cannot thank you enough for affirming that labial
hypertrophy is nothing to be ashamed of.
